Talking about Beethoven and celebrating his anniversary, but for once doing it by playing as little of his music as possible, but other music: those that he studied, read or listened to, and which certainly influenced him – from the “great” Bach to Mozart, from the “young” Bach (Carl Philipp Emanuel) to Haydn – and then the music whose style shows no small affinity – those of names that are not very popular today such as Pleyel, Méhul, Gossec. And again, the Diabelli Variations, the music of the Revolution, those of Germany, those of popular culture, in short: that world of sounds in which Beethoven’s is formed and defined. A galaxy like this, proposed in some cases in complete form, in others by fragments – live, on the piano, with short extracts of symphonic recordings – is at the center of the meeting with Alfonso Alberti, who between music and words makes us better know the composer and his musical world.
